...We hand build and preserve the greatest design from the 50's tweed style era, favored by seasoned professional guitarists around the world.

...A note from Budamps.com
Me? Just an older guy that played blues and did many amp repairs years ago..
...A lot of players could not afford much in those days. I helped guitar players and did some repairs free of charge if needed ... I also built my own bass cab and played bass with local groups.......
...I spent a lot of time on the phone with the Fender repair dept. in Fullerton Cal. in those days...
...Being a Bass player and singing some with an acoustic guitar I had a well rounded idea of what was the best during the late 50's era...
...Later I became interested in the legendary 1959 tweed bassman, it had a great history and reputation of being the best sounding amp for guitar players, as many greats already know, so great, collectors and guitar players have paid up to $12,000.00 for an original unit...

...The amp lost it's popularity for Bass players as it could not keep up with the new sub speakers being used later... But it became the greatest guitar amp because of the full range they could deliver for guitar...
Many great guitarists of the 50's and 60's era used them…
..Many builders have tried to duplicate that sound and failed, which is the reason the originals are sought after today!
...I heard a lot of reproductions and re-issues realizing differences in that amp and how that sound got lost in the shuffle...Also many claims were giving the amp a bad name as they did not sound right at all! ...So, I started out on this road to recover and preserve what Leo Fender had intended with the design of that amplifier..... Fortunately, a good friend of mine had an original 59 here in Coopersburg PA.. I met him at a square dance gathering and he let me set in and play a couple of tunes with my Bass..Later he had me do a couple of repairs and re-cone the speakers.. That was my chance to look over the problems in building this amp!... My friend allowed me to research his amp for several weeks, I went over the amp with a fine tooth comb and found it needed a new power transformer, which became a blessing in disguise as I had to find someone who would build the transformer exactly like the old one...The interleaving and shelving of the windings had to be the same.. I found an older guy that knew how to do that and he would make one for me also...
...After two years of research I finally had my amp done, worked great, but way to much head room…. So I began to investigate the speakers... I had purchased four of the new reissue 10" Jensen's, at 25 watts each, not good for an amp that has 45-50 watts..
...After looking around I found that guys were spending $300.00 to 400.00 each for the original 10" Jensen.. So I did a search for one, they were used in other things back in those days... I found one that was blown, but perfect for my purposes as I wanted to have some built.. Later I found a company that would make them for me. I tore the original down and sent the magnet assembly of parts to the speaker company and they found all the necessary parts... ...I was amazed at the sound of them! They come off exactly like what I needed and the head room is right where it belongs...
...Then I realized there were some harmonic changes to overcome, so I searched the signal path area in the amp, it's a long story….Another conundrum I found was the tube scopes of old, read quite differently then new ones when reading the old signals... The old capacitors were usually solid foil type capacitors, those caps are quite different in the harmonic range compared to the film foil types today....So my search is on-going for old capacitors.... I find NOS (new old stock) of that era and insist on using them in may amps... The power capacitors are new, the others are "reformed" NOS stock...
...The end result is a 1959 absolute clone of Leo Fenders design and sound.. For proof I sat it up next to my friends original amp and with the same settings... Exactly the same! It's right there in the 50's!!!!
..."If someone says they make it better, it is not a 1959 Bassman at all"
...So in closing I make my claim that this amplifier with all the time and research I have done is well worth the price I ask and worth every penny.........
...Thanks for reading.. Budsamp...
